Johnny tries to ask the lingering questions that crowd his mind, but Abdullah's answers do not provide any respite. Johnny is frequently in a state of hyper vigilance on the bustling streets of NYC. He struggles with the helmet-cam video footage of combat that he has brought back from Iraq: The video provides Johnny with the comfort of accuracy that memory does not have, but it also induces anxiety. The film compares combat video playback to the memory of a traumatic event that many veterans experience. Real combat footage is used in the film.

His Majesty's Sergeant

His Majesty's Sergeant is a film produced by the late Ghanaian director Ato Yanney. A story of racial conflict set in the war-torn Burmese forest during 1944 when three soldiers, an African, an Indian and a Briton, end up hiding together. Three disparate bands, Jafa (Tommy Ebow Ansah), Singh (Surinder Singh Ghuman) and Jake (Tony Trent) are embroiled in their own differences of attitude, prejudice, rank and race equality. The film is a fascinating portrayal about the fight for Independence and the Commonwealth nations which helped Britain to win the war.

Sekret Enigmy 1979

Three Polish mathematicians are the first to crack the sophisticated Enigma code used by the Germans just before the Second World War. They build replicas of the Enigma machines and manage to get two of the machines to the British and French code-breakers before the German invasion of Poland in 1939; they ask that recognition be given to their work at the end of the war. After the invasion, the Polish cipher bureau escapes and continues their decoding in Algeria and unoccupied France.

A quiet French peasant has spent three years as a corporal on the front lines in World War I, and one day he cannot take it anymore and goes AWOL, escaping into the Alps in the southeast of France. He first takes leave of his wife before heading into the mountains and manages to survive in the breathtaking, vast landscape while using all the knowledge and wiles under his command. Even though the area around him is fairly isolated, another deserter arrives on the scene -- but he cannot take the solitude and leaves. As the peasant diligently works at his own survival, the police from the region know he is hiding out somewhere within their jurisdiction, and so his future is anything but secure. This subdued, pacifist film strives for distance rather than emotional involvement, so as to present a pacifist cause as reasonably as possible, but as a consequence, the routine of the deserter's existence verges on a grinding boredom.
